The Sun roars into Leo

My monthly breakdown on the first day of the new sign...

  1. Preparing for the transition...
  2. As we prepare for the King (#Leo), let's celebrate the gateway to soul, #Cancer. #astrology
  3. In #Cancer, we find a lunar insularity and deep need for intimacy. We see the divine emanate as partially revealed mystery, partly known.
  4. When we get to #Leo, the lunar insularity is broken open. The Sun is THE revealer, the manifestor, the illuminator.
  5. If ever a sign is about show me what you got, it's the majesty and luxuriant glory of #Leo.
  6. In the process of "God becoming" during the year, #Leo represents the moment of recognizing one's individual power and will.
  7. In #Cancer, we think about the collective, but #Leo is the breakaway moment, the striving to be The One and lead. To embody the group.
  8. This is perhaps key to consider as the ancient concept of royalty was that the "heart" of the people was embodied in its royalty.
  9. This leads to understand one of the key signatures of #Leo, the heart. #Leo is the heart of the Zodiac.
  10. As the heart, it's more than its biological function of pumping blood. In the ancient view, it was the seat of the personality. #Leo
  11. One's #personality or ego is important, because it represents the moment when a person decides to project herself as more than the group.
  12. This moment has gotten a bad wrap, but the daring of the ego (#Leo) is what keeps the group/herd from becoming/staying stagnant.
  13. "bad rep," that is.
  14. In history/sociology, #Leo represents the idea of the strong individual or...the #hero.
  15. A moment about that word: hero. #Hero etymologically connects to power of the Son/Sun as seen in the ancient Egyptian Heru.
  16. Heru or Hru became transformed into Horus by the Greeks. Anyway, his central story is how a Son/Sun was banished after his uncle killed...
  17. ...his father. In exile, he had to rediscover his courage (more on that in a minute) to avenge his father & get his father's throne back.
  18. Heru, our hero, claims victory over his father's killer and becomes the King. #Leo (Pause)
  19. Now...if that sounds like the entire plot of the #LionKing, then you were paying attention. One of the oldest #Leo myths. ahem.
  20. This myth becomes key in understanding #Leo and its mythos. #Leo isn't just possessed of daring, but also journeys to get it as well.
  21. This harks back to what I said earlier about "heart." The word courage comes from the Latin coeur, which means heart.
  22. When one is possessed of courage, one is in touch w/ one's heart. Your heart was the seat of your personality, your most unique expression.
  23. Thus #Leo is a crowning moment of dignity, when one is crowned w/ the art of being one's self. Not the fight to be as in #Aries.
  24. In #Leo, we see the people who have that je ne sais quoi that ppl want to bottle or manufacture, but can't. bit.ly/aTSXrK
  25. Like the Sun, Leo can emanate a warmth & sense of authority that prompts you to wonder, "How the hell did they get that?"
