Recap: FCCT panel discussion on lèse majesté

The Foreign Correspondent's Club of Thailand hosted a discussion panel on Thailand's draconian lèse majesté law.

  5. #somyot's wife begins the #lm panel discussion with an introduction of her husband, who is a veteran labor activist.

  7. Sukanya: "There's no proof that the articles #Somyot was editing were calling to overthrow monarchy and were written by somebody else" #lm
  8. Sukanya: " #somyot did not have the intention to insult the monarchy, but unfortunately the judges didn't consider that in their sentencing"
  9. Prachatai's @jiew is now up, who has been sentenced under the Computer Crime Act for not deleting #lm comments quickly enough.

  16. Streckfuss now mentions the Constitutional Court's upholding of the #lm law, as it does not see freedom of speech violated.
  17. Streckfuss: Where is the line? There's no line and nobody dares to define the line. #lm
  18. Tul: we cannot look into anybody's head, but there's limitation to what can be said "but not to limit" #lm
  19. Tul: "No NGO, no academics, nobody has complained about #lm before, But now after red shirts emerged..."
