The Vancouver Canucks fired the most successful head coach in club history on Wednesday, the much-anticipated result of two consecutive first-round exits from the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Vigneault, 51, had a regular-season record of 313-170-57 with the Canucks, won six Northwest Division titles and two Presidents’ Trophy awards as the NHL’s top regular-season team.

Still, his departure wasn't unexpected. Here's how it went down on social media:

Street racers in Dubai might need to find a new hobby.

The Dubai Police have the middle eastern city buzzing after unveiling their new patrol car: a Lamborghini Aventador worth more than $400,000. The force tweeted out a picture of its new toy on Wednesday:

The Aventador boasts a 700-horsepower V12 engine and a body and frame that are made out of carbon fiber. It accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers an hour in 2.9 seconds and tops out at a speed of 350 kilometres an hour.

Dubai Police had announced in late March its plans to make its fleet of patrol cars somewhat sportier, but nothing like this. At the time, it was circulating pictures of a well-decorated two-door Chevrolet Camaro, to mixed reviews:

Have you ever lashed out at someone working in customer service? You may regret that moment of frustration, according to a University of British Columbia study that found North American customer service agents are more likely to take revenge on customers.

More than 200 frontline employees at a luxury hotel chain in Vancouver and Beijing were surveyed to determine how they react to misbehaving customers. The study found that North American employees were 20 per cent more likely to retaliate than their Chinese counterparts.

“In North America, employees tend to retaliate against offensive customers – doing things like giving bad directions or serving cold food," said UBC Sauder School of Business Professor Daniel Skarlicki, a co-author of the study, in a news release. "In China, workers are more likely to reduce the general quality of service they provide to all customers – nasty or nice.”

Often the language is too nasty for us to publish, but they aren't hard to find. Every giveaway by a defenceman, every error by a shortstop, every achievement by a woman in a man's world unleashes a torrent of abusive social media posts. Back in the day, you had to buy a ticket to tell an athlete what you thought of him. Not any more.
