Bill C-38 shreds Canada's existing environmental legislation (as well as empowering the FBI to enforce US law on Canadian territory, removing independent oversight of CSIS, raising the retirement age, limiting entitlement to unemployment benefit, giving the CRA extra money specifically to hound environmental charities, etc). While presented as a budget implementation bill, many of its voluminous contents were not mentioned in the budget announcement and many are indeed irrelevant to the fiscal measures appropriate to a budget. This 425-page bill is being pushed through parliament on a restricted timetable which does not permit proper debate. SPEAK UP AND SAVE CANADA. INACTION IS NOT AN OPTION.
