at North Carolina State University, told the group that standard metrics&nbsp;won't tell him what he needs to&nbsp;know about&nbsp;his blog, "The Abstract." Counting unique visitors&nbsp;don't measure much because heavy traffic is not his goal. &nbsp;He wants reach alumni and
donors, as well as researchers and staff within NCSU.&nbsp;Shipman also wants to help
researchers impress funders by getting word out about their findings.<br /></p>
