May Day 2013 in Seattle began with it's usual march, but turned for a violent turn when police are forced to use tear gas and pepper spray in the city's Capitol Hill neighborhood. Protesters dressed as superheros and clowns smashed windows and threw many objects at officers Tuesday night.

Elizabeth Cross, an artist and citizen journalist based in NYC, as she joins the march. I wanted her voice, reasoned and calm as it was, to be a panacea to the craziness that usually accompanies nights such as this.
Out on Church Ave, zip-ties used to hold the barricades together. A tactic I've seen is for the barricades to be used against the police, usually as protection, sometimes as a weapon. Either of those aren't particularly things the cops will be wanting tonight.
