Don't fart around on Facebook or Netflix during class. Actually listen to the instructor and your classmates. Seriously, you'll learn 1,000 times more stuff and feel like your $$ was VERY well spent. Take advantage of all of the free software you can receive as a UW student. You can get software for Mac and PC. Free Microsoft Office, Windows 7, and many other programs. You can also get huge discounts on Adobe products. - Evan West

Challenge the teachers. This whole program is about finding new solutions to old problems. Think of the MCDM as a laboratory to experiment and improve existing ideas. - Shane Suzuki

Not only is the MCDM what you make it, you're also making the MCDM. This is not a take it or leave it kind of program, so take the initiative to start something new, or lobby to get a different type of class added to the curriculum. Your passion counts. - Peter Luyckx
