On the evening of Friday, May 31, 2013, days after a devastating tornado struck Moore, Oklahoma, the Oklahoma City metro area was under tornado warnings again. A supercell of storms prompted a "tornado emergency" declaration and at one point four rotations were reported in OKC area.

Twitter announced in a tweet on Thursday that you can now build up to 1,000 Twitter lists (previously you were capped at 20) and each list can have up to 5,000 Twitter accounts. Journalists welcomed the news.

On Saturday night, I witnessed a sad Twitter exchange between a sports reporter at The Buffalo News and a local blog Trending Buffalo. This story has less to do with the fact it took place in Buffalo (full disclosure: my hometown) than it's embarrassing for both sides and a good lesson for others.

First, some context. There has been tension between the local blog community in Buffalo and the local newspaper. Again, this is not unique to Buffalo. It can be seen in communities across the country and even at the national level at times. Nonetheless, there has even been a debate on Twitter in recent weeks whether local blogs in Buffalo constitute as "real media."

This particular clash was provoked by a quick burst of tweets.

U.N. Under-Secretary-General for political affairs Lynn Pascoe told the Security Council today, Feb. 28, that there are "credible reports" that often more than 100 civilians are dying each day in Syria, including women and children, and "well over 7,500" have died since the Syrian revolt began.
