Shark attacks on humans have been reported over the years. Despite the predator image sharks have, they are also prey and are hunted for their fins. Efforts continue to protect sharks from this activity in order to keep the ecosystem of our oceans healthy.

One of the ways in which Ride inspired future generations was the Sally Ride Science organization and its events. I attended one at West Chester University of Pennsylvania in Oct. 2005, where Ride talked about encouraging girls in their math and science studies. It was a great honor to see her in person because I always admired astronauts.
