Highlights from the discussion during a joint session of the Rotaract/Interact and Membership Development & Retention committees on 1 August 2012. Plus, responses from Rotaractors via social media.

  2. Questions being discussed: 
    1) How can former Rotaractors stay connected to Rotary if they are not yet ready to join a Rotary club? 
    2) What do you see as the similarities & differences between an experienced Rotaractor and a young Rotarian?

  3. What kind of training did Rotaractors get from local Rotary clubs, asked comm. #RACtalk
  4. Social media is a useful tool but nothing can replace face-to-face communication. #RACtalk
  5. @rotaract I totally agree. I long to see my friends and not just ping them #RACtalk
  6. Has been some discussion about dues being lowered for past Rotaractor, committee wondering if this being promoted in other clubs. #RACtalk
  7. Need to make sure that all world regions are covered w/social media, sd committees. #RACtalk
  8. Some ex-Rotaractors know Rotary is time committment, and are able to pay full dues when they start Rotary. #RACtalk
  9. Differences in culture between Rotary and Rotaractor clubs can be a barrier for joining Rotary. #RACtalk
  10. @rotary this "barrier" can easily be broken. Of course a #Rotary club is going to be culturally different from #Rotaract. #RACtalk
  11. Question fr. committees: Are Rotaractors more interested in leadership development or service activities? #RACtalk
  12. @rotaract #RACtalk I would say that Service activities are the things that attract people most.

  14. By planning & participating in service projects one develops their leadership skills #RACtalk
  15. @rotaract I believe both are equally important as qualities to be learned as a Rotaractor #RACtalk
  16. @rotaract #RACtalk I think service activities bc young ppl have to work on diff things and feel they r productive in their community!

  19. @rotaract through organizing service projects and leading them, we develop leadership. #RACtalk
