Domenech on Hispanic vote

null

  1. People think the Hispanic divide is about policy. It's about antagonism.
  2. You simply cannot win Hispanics if they think you don't care about them. Hello, McFly.
  3. I shared this in The Transom, but all across the country yesterday state party organizations didn't even have Spanish language ballots.
  4. Politically active Hispanics who marched in the March for Life voted for Obama because Mitt Romney doesn't care about them.
  5. (And if you think I'm exaggerating, I'll introduce you to them!)
  6. "Did you know Romney joked he wished he looked more Mexican so he could get votes?"
  7. "Did you know Romney said he wants to make my cousin self-deport?"
  8. John McCain and Mitt Romney couldn't have been more different on immigration policy. But it doesn't matter!
  9. Because winning Hispanic votes has little or nothing to do with policy positions. And no, you can't out-welfare state Democrats.
  10. Romney spent his entire political career pivoting. When it came time to pivot for Hispanics, he couldn't.
  11. George W. Bush won 40% of Hispanics eight years ago. Republicans will never get back to that without a marked change in message.
  12. They have a rising generation of communicators. Rubio, Cruz, Jindal, Martinez, Sandoval, Haley must redefine message to expand coalition.
  13. I'll make one prediction for 2016, just one: the Republican Party will not nominate a white male.
