Stephen Garcia dismissed from USC football program
Garcia was informed Tuesday morning that he was dismissed from the program as a result of a failed alcohol test on Oct. 4. News broke this afternoon.
The (Columbia, S.C.) State reports Garcia failed an alcohol test on Oct. 4.
In a story on ESPN, Chris Low says a source said Garcia tested positive for marijuana and alcohol use. Low says Garcia's reinstatement contract specified that he would not drink alcohol.Steve Spurrier refused to hold a news conference but met with some members of the media individually.
Spurrier said sports columnist Ron Morris of The State was writing false things about the football program. One of Morris' co-workers, Adam Beam, came to his defense.Fans quickly reacted to the news on Twitter, Facebook and message boards .
Some took Garcia's dismissal lighter than others.
Garcia's season turned controversial after the Gamecocks lost to Auburn.
