On Twitter, worry that AEG sale could dash NFL team hopes
- Late Tuesday, the Anschutz Co., run by Denver billionaire Philip Anschutz, said it is seeking a buyer for its AEG subsidiary, which has stakes in the L.A. Live entertainment venue in downtown Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Kings professional hockey team and the Los Angeles Galaxy pro soccer team.
Los Angeles officials have been trying to lure an NFL team to the city for the proposed football stadium downtown. But with news of the sale, many in the Twitterverse said the sale could dash the city's hopes for an NFL franchise.
- Others, however, more glib about the announcement:
- The deal, which comes after the Los Angeles Kings, which is owned by AEG, won the Stanley Cup this year, dismayed at least one Kings fan.
