Quantum Resolutions

Here are ten of our favourite entries to a mini-competition that called for New Year's resolutions with a quantum twist. The competition ran on Twitter from 26 December 2014 to 2 January 2015.

  1. Don't we all need photons and phonons of satisfaction? We love this sincere resolution
  2. Now this may work in the movies, but we're not sure we want to go into a wormhole
  3. There were a few feline-themed entries from kind-hearted souls concerned for Schrodinger's cat
  4. Diet was another popular topic. Will quantum physics help you be healthier? Or will you, like entrant @DoeringNorman, use the multiverse as the ultimate get-out clause for keeping your resolutions in this universe?
  5. Others resolve to grapple with some of quantum theory's weirdest concepts: entanglement and superposition
  6. And here is our winner, a clever play on Einstein's famous description of entanglement as "spooky action at a distance"
  7. Thanks for all the quantum resolutions. We enjoyed them!
  8. Quantum Shorts is a series of competitions for quantum-inspired content. This mini-competition may be over, but our main competition for three-minute films, supported by media partners Scientific American and Nature, is accepting entries until 1 February 2015.
