Forest fire threatens homes and cabins south of Ely, Minn.
A wildfire that apparently started from a downed power line burned Thursday afternoon one mile south of Ely. Crews fought the blaze and faced southern winds at 22 miles per hour with gusts to 35. The Ely Mayor declared a local emergency and homes were evacuated.
