I'm tired of seeing/hearing people talk about software estimation as if it's something we can do. It's like everyone's in denial about it.

With software estimation you've only realistically got a choice of 5 mins, 1 hour, 1-2 days, about a week, and then all bets are off.

...and don't give me that 'but they're just estimates' crap. They're never just estimates.

Don't be suckered in to giving long range estimates. See the warning signs that there's something wrong with a proj. that's asking for this.
