Reaction to shooting at Conn. elementary school
At least 27 people are dead, including 18 children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., after a shooting Friday, Dec. 14, 2012.
- On behalf of the staff of Mount Airy City Schools, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the community of Newtown Conn. It is an unspeakable tragedy and our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with the families in the days and weeks ahead. I want to reassure the community that safety is paramount to MACS. Our number one priority is to provide a safe and secure environment for our students and staff. As a result, our school and district administration as well as school staff have worked hard to create safe campuses. We consistently review our procedures, protocols, and plans in our efforts to demonstrate our commitment to safety. As a father of two girls, I can understand any feelings of trepidation caused by this tragedy. I am thankful for the dedicated staff that love and cherish our children each and every day. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to give me a call. -Dr. Little
- It's difficult to understand how something so tragic as yesterday's CT shooting could happen here in America or anywhere else for that matter. Some misguided people have blamed God. God is not the blame. Satan, the sin nature, and bad choices are to blame. It is a dangerous thing to try to understand Who God is and how He works when viewing Him through such a tragedy. Read His Word now before a tragedy. Pray and spend time with Him now before a tragedy. Get to know Him now and life will make much more sense. Don't wait until something tragic happens. God is here for you now. So make the decision this very moment to know Him so you can better trust Him in all situations in life.
