Unlike Israel tends to make you believe, so called 'rains of rockets from Gaza are not as deadly as they are displayed in media. Hence, they even are only used by resistance since the year 2001. The production of Qassams began in September 2001 following the outbreak of the Second Intifada.
Even Israel's defense specialists consider the Qassam rocket to be more of a psychological threat than a physical threat.

Ever since 2001, 21 Israeli have been killed by the so called thousands of rockets, while Israeli weaponry has killed over 2300 in the last 5 years, of which 825 (as per dec 2011) by drones in extrajudicial executions.In the same 11 years since the outbreak of the intifada Israel killed 1477 children in the same period that resistance retaliated the violence done on Palestinians.
Since 1946, with the first bomb attack by zionist mobs of Zvei Lumi, (note: even before any Israel existed) on the King David Hotel, costing the lives of 91 inncocent people, it has taken resistance until 2001 to develop home made rockets.
Fighting an entity which attacks it;s people with real WMD, nuclear weapons, GBU bunker busters, tanks, naval vessels, an air force while Palestine has no army nor artillery hence not even an airplane to start with."Rockets from Gaza' are merely a distraction which Israel launches into media to distract you from the fact that ever since over 77 massacres since 1946, Palestine is under direct violent attacks every single day since the Nakba in 1948, even if no rock or rocket is thrown at all. The West Bank, also under daily attack does not even launch rockets, yet, gets attacked as well.

1) the bulk of projectile fire from Gaza occurs as part of peaks or periodic spikes.
2) These spikes are invariably preceded by significant Palestinian causalities caused by Israeli fire.
