BVR & #ZwElectionPledge2018.... Not the End

The Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) Mop-up exercise today will come to an end with approximately 5,264,674 voters being registered. This figure includes figures from the static registration centres for the period 18/9-9/10/2017.

  1. Ridden with different challenges emanating from victimisation of potential registrants by members of a certain political party, shortages of required materials by electoral commission, lack of adequate information by the potential, the registration turns out to be a success at the end of the day.
  2. Civil society, individuals and political parties played a critical role in mobilising and encouraging people, especially the youth to register to vote. Of late young people were not interested in the electoral process due to a number of factors emanating from how the elections where conducted, but with the introduction of the BVR system, a lot of young people showed interest.
