Remembering Jock Hobbs
Tributes are flowing after the death of former NZ rugby official Jock Hobbs. The 52-year-old passed away after battling leukaemia.

Former All Blacks captain Jock Hobbs has died after a battle with cancer that started in 2006.
Hobbs was instrumental in securing Rugby World Cup 2011 for New Zealand, and a central figure in the battle to keep top players onboard with the NZ Rugby Union when Kerry Packer came calling in 1995. - Its with great sadness and regret that we bring the news #Jock Hobbs has passed away in the last hour ow.ly/9Clar.

All Blacks captain Richie McCaw became the first player to earn 100 test caps for New Zealand, and Jock Hobbs was there to present him with his commemorative cap.
The presentation ceremony took place following the All Blacks' decisive 37-17 victory over France in pool play.
McCaw's mother Margaret said:
We know Jock as a friend from way back, and it was really special that he was there as Richard admires him greatly, and was really honoured that he was the one to present his cap.

In 2010 the resignation of Jock Hobbs from the role of NZ Rugby Union chairman was announced.
NZRU CEO Steve Tew said:
Under Jock's Chairmanship, the NZRU has enjoyed a period of sustained achievement on and off the field, while the game in New Zealand has also had to navigate a number of major challenges.
