NABJ DJTF TweetChat: Saving For The #NABJ13 Convention

The National Association of Black Journalists' Digital Journalism Task Force held a TweetChat on how members can start saving now to pay for the NABJ 2013 convention in Orlando. Panelists Natalie McNeal (thefrugalista.com) and student Ashleigh Atwell offered tips and tricks for funding the trip!

  1. Let's get started. For those of you counting, only 11 months, 10 days until #NABJ13. We're going to give tips on getting there. #nabj13prep
  2. Good evening! So excited to be here! Thank you @nabjdigital for the invitation! #nabj13prep
  3. A1: I've been a member of NABJ since high school. It's great to help you become a better journalist. #nabj13prep
  4. A1: NABJ conventions put you in front of people that you would have to jump through hoops to see anywhere else. #nabj13prep
  5. A1: Most of my work opportunities have come, in some form, as a result of NABJ. #nabj13prep
  6. A1 The workshops. The networking. The chance to see folks that look like me doing same thing as me. And #NABJ love! #nabj13prep
  7. A1: It's nice to be part of a community and I have that with NABJ. #nabj13prep
  8. A1: I've learned more from workshops at NABJ conventions than sitting in a classroom at my university. #nabj13prep
  9. A1: You may have questions about the profession and NABJ members are an excellent resource. #nabj13prep
  10. Q2 Describe a specific event/moment that happened to you ONLY because you attended an #NABJ convention. #nabj13prep
  11. A2: That's tough. I saw Cornel West dance in the middle of the dance floor. Does that count? LOL!!! #nabj13prep
  12. A2: I was able to meet people I practically worship like Melissa Harris-Perry and Lola Ogunnaike. #nabj13prep
