Museum Nerd Goes Rogue in San Diego
When I got to Museums and the Web 2012, I couldn't resist going off on my own to live-tweet visits to as many San Diego museums as I could.
- Wow. #museumofman ranks pretty high in the impressive museum façades department. twitpic.com/9879cv #RogueNerd #mw2012
- Wall text on CAT scan of this mummified pregnant woman @museumofman says "Womb with a View." twitpic.com/987djd #roguenerd #mw2012
- This is the last person I thought I'd run into at the @museumofman! twitpic.com/987jkn #roguenerd #mw2012
- Also very high in the running for most gorgeous museum façade, @SDMA! twitpic.com/9883cd #MW2012 #RogueNerd
- "My flowers, not yours!" Re: this Suzanne Valadon portrait at @SDMA twitpic.com/98898u #MW2012 #roguenerd
- Here's a Diego Rivera I was also unfamiliar with @SDMA. "Hands of Dr. Moore" (1940) twitpic.com/988atk #MW2012 #roguenerd
- Wayne Thiebaud makes the paint itself look as delicious as this "Caged Pie" @SDMA. twitpic.com/988be8 #MW2012 #roguenerd
- Check out that one dude biting the other in this Hieronymus Bosch at @SDMA! twitpic.com/988had #MW2012 #roguenerd
- Excellent Sofonisba Anguissola portrait @SDMA. She(!) was painting at court in 16th c. Spain. twitpic.com/988ic9 #MW2012 #roguenerd
- Is it known whether Mr. Monteux actually had a tiny head or if Bonnard just did that? twitpic.com/987t7e #roguenerd #mw2012 @SDMA
- Budweiser throne presumably for the "king of beers" at the @MingeiMuseum. twitpic.com/988vmm #roguenerd #mw2012
- Gorgeous 1964 Russell Baldwin landscape with brilliant enamel at @mingeimuseum. twitpic.com/9890p2 #RogueNerd #mw2012
- "Whoever's turn it is raise your hand/paw." Maneki neko cats playing Go at @mingeimuseum. twitpic.com/988ycj #RogueNerd #mw2012
- (Strict no photo policy at the Timken. I've added links to their website, but the images are rather small. Hey Google Art Project...)
- "Here a...vestal virgin...kisses a pet dove...while her clothes fall away around her." Courtin on loan @TimkenArtMuseum #RogueNerd #mw2012
- I found an online image of this Jacques-François Courtin painting which was hilarious to me. I was happy to see that the label at the museum acknowledged that there was humor in the artist's intent.
- Fabulous color in Niccolo di Buonaccorso's 14th c. "Madonna of Humility with Saints," from Putnam Fndn. Coll. @TimkenArtMuseum. #roguenerd
- I was especially taken with the bright red-oranges on the inside of St. Catherine's sleeve. The online image doesn't do it justice.
- Tiny demon bat/bird farting(!?) on a lost soul's face hidden in Savoldo's 16th c. "Torment of St. Anthony" at the Timken. #roguenerd #MW2012
- You can't really see this in the online image, but it's about 10 inches in from the lower right hand corner of the painting.
