USS Freedom (LCS 1) Deploys to Southeast Asia
The United States' first Littoral Combat Ship, USS Freedom (LCS 1), will depart San Diego shortly for its maiden deployment. Follow along as the ship crosses the Pacific to Southeast Asia.

SINGAPORE (May 11, 2013) Cmdr. The SECNAV visited Freedom to commemorate her recent arrival in Singapore and deployment to Southeast Asia. Fast, agile and mission-focused, ittoral combat ships are designed to operate in near-shore environments and employ modular mission packages that can be configured for surface warfare, mine countermeasures, or anti-submarine warfare.
