Let's Move Spring Garden Harvest

Students from Bancroft Elementary School and Harriet Tubman Elementary School joined Sam Kass, Assistant Chef and Senior Policy Adviser for Healthy Food Initiatives in the White House Kitchen Garden to harvest some of the produce their fellow students planted at the beginning of the spring.

  4. Both Bancroft Elementary School and Harriet Tubman Elementary School have school gardens that generate produce for students and staff. While at the White House, the students harvested peas, garlic, and onions, lettuce from the Kitchen Garden.

  8. After the harvest, the students received fresh produce to take home. The students that joined the harvest also took time to write thank you notes to the students who helped First Lady Michelle Obama plant the produce earlier this year.
