The Old Guard keeps guard, no matter the weather

The Sentinel's Creed says "Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements, I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability."

  1. Photos from the U.S. Army today -- Spc. Brett Hyde, Tomb Sentinel, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), keeps guard over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during Hurricane Sandy at Arlington National Cemetery, Va. Just like the Sentinel's Creed says "Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements, I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability." 2. This shot, circulating around the web today as a Hurricane Sandy photo, was actually captured by a civilian photographer back in September. But it still speaks to the dedication and focus of the soldiers charged with the task of guarding the tomb.
