Illuminating Stick Heads for MLL Games on ESPN - Good or Bad?
In a sideline interview during the 2011 MLL Championship Game, Major League Lacrosse founder Jake Steinfeld said the MLL is currently working on "new technology" that will illuminate stick heads on TV when a player has the ball. We took it to Twitter to gather reactions and discuss the topic. Here's what people are saying!
REACTIONS:
- I will murder an adorable rabbit if the MLL institutes light up stick tech. The blood is on your hands Steinfeld! #MLLChamp @Rusty_Ryan13
- @MLL_Lacrosse Illuminating the head of the stick when the ball is in it? C'mon Steinfeld, #NHL has #beentheredonethat. It didn't work
- CONVERSATION:
- @LaxAllStars light up stick tech? An utter travesty. I literally yelled when it was mentioned
- @LaxAllStars hopefully it works better then the illuminated hockey puck from the NHL on Fox back in the day
- @ProfJennings @LaxRoadsAmerica @bprat Its all about execution. Chances of success are slim, but it doesn't mean it's not an interesting idea
- @LaxAllStars Nah dood, not #interesting or #original. It's been done and failed - foxtail AND halo in the #NHL - only result: seizures.
- @LaxAllStars I'm open to innovation but not gimmicks. I'll welcome any improvements to the game itself. I guess time will tell. #GTG
- @ProfJennings Agreed. In terms of TV coverage, it's important to look at the sport from a casual fan's perspective.
- @LaxAllStars don't want to sacrifice hardcore fans for the sake of some casuals however. It's the 80/20 principle. We'll see how it works.
- @ProfJennings Hardcores will always watch - they may just watch AND complain about something they think is a gimmick. #shotclock #2pointline
