iLost: Wade Roush's iCloud Tale of Woe

Apple's new iCloud service caused several eager early adopters like Wade Roush heartache when they signed up for the service on Wednesday.

  1. The hurt begins with iOS 5. Error message: "The iPhone 'iPHone' could not be restored. An internal error occurred."
  2. Well, iTunes has successfully bricked my iPhone. It won't even restore - error 3401. This better be the LAST time we ever have to do this.
  3. So to use Photostream on the Mac, I have to pay $14.99 to upgrade to iPhoto 9.2, when I just bought Lion? Really?
  4. Okay, it looks like iPhoto 9.2 is available as a free download at t.co/zoeAzAzp , but iPhoto 9.1.5 doesn't know there's an update.
  5. iOS 5 hijinx Part 17: System Prefs says I'm already using 4.4 GB of my free 5 GB of iCloud storage. Interesting, if accurate.
  6. So far, "upgrading" iCal to #iOS5 seems to mean creating 4 duplicates of every appointment.
  7. I'm in iCal hell. iCloud has created 22 calendars, 6 copies of each appointment on each iOS device, & iCal on Mac is in endless crash loop.
  8. Using old e-mails, I've reconstructed my calendar for Oct and Nov. I think. If u have a mtg with me, please confirm it asap. #iOS5disasters
  9. Is there a page in the Worst Case Scenario Handbook for "All your calendar data is gone"? Thanks #iOS5
