NYCC 2012: A First-Time Attendees Experience
Being a bit of a girl geek, you would have thought I would've attended numerous Comic Conventions by now. Surprisingly, I haven't -- and it took interning at Marvel this past summer to make me realize that I NEEDED to go. So I figured what better place to start than in the city that never sleeps!
- Friday

- When I got to New York Comic Con, the first thing I did was scope out the area. I walked around the Javits Center, checking out the various booths set up and grabbing the free swag available. Breaking away from all the tempting merchandise, I eventually made my way to my first panel!
- It's fitting in a way that the first panel I decided to attend was an Archie Comics panel. Archie and his pals in Riverdale were the first comic books I was exposed to as a kid and are what initially got me into reading and collecting comic books.
Everyone is lined up for the Archie panel at room 1A06. It just keeps going! #NYCC http://pic.twitter.com/krVdnZVo

- At my first panel at #NYCC. Got my @ArchieComics swag and ready to relax for a little while.
- Saw test footage for the new @hubtvnetwork Sabrina show voiced by @AshleyTisdale at the @ArchieComics panel! #NYCC
- Read about what you missed at yesterday's Archie panel archiecomics.com/Blogs/tabid/97…
- Following the Archie panel, I went to the Autographing area to meet SHATTER ME author Tahereh Mafi. A definite must-read, SHATTER ME is a dystopian novel with something for everyone. There's romance, adventure, and even a paranormal twist.
- Just met #SHATTERME author @TaherehMafi at the autographs table! She is the nicest! @JacqueMeier #BeExtraordinary #NYCC

We spotted @TaherehMafi again! Can't wait for #UNRAVELME to come out! #NYCC http://pic.twitter.com/T2jRFuio- Other panels I went to on Friday included Zenescope's 'Grimm Fairy Tales' and TheOneRing.net's 'The Hobbit.' At Zenescope's panel, they previewed three minutes of the first episode of their new 'Grimm Fairy Tales' animated series funded through Kickstarter. TheOneRing.com panel was the perfect place for Tolkein fans to find out about spoilers for the upcoming 'Hobbit' films (FYI: there will be three of them!).
There is one packed house at the #nycc Grimm Animated Panel! http://pic.twitter.com/3aIzh6mo- Saturday
