1. BYU gymnastics kicked off its first week of official practice with a cardio fitness dance lesson with BYU women’s basketball and a team photoshoot.

Prior to the start of official practice on Friday, Sept. 16, BYU gymnastics coaches were limited to train with their athletes for about 30 minutes a day before the team participated in open gym by themselves for the rest of practice.

“It’s so much better now,” BYU head coach Guard Young said. “Now that we can be there for three rotations and have assignments that they all complete, it’s been really good.”
  2. Young’s wife, Alisha, brought her dance background and Zumba hobby to instruct both the gymnastics and women’s basketball teams Saturday morning in the gymnastics gym.

“We’re happy that they accepted it and it was a lot of fun having them,” Young said. “We want to invite more teams to come.”
  3. The gymnasts also participated in a team photoshoot in preparation for the upcoming season. The Cougars’ Blue and White Intrasquad meet will be held Friday, Dec. 9, at the Smith Fieldhouse.
