- Yesterday at 4pm, Occupy Northeastern began its occupation of Krentzman Quad. At General Assembly an hour later, it was announced that the encampment would only last until Tuesday. Also as Allison Francis said, there was a vote to change the name of the quad they're occupying.
- A lot of Northeastern students have reacted negatively to the occupation in the newly named NU People's Plaza, for example a lot of students spoke out against re-naming the quad because of Krentzman's business background.
- However Tori Porell, one of the Occupy Boston Northeastern student leaders justified the name change and said,
- @HuntNewsNU @OccupyBostonNU Krentzman favored small business, but we renamed because space should be for all, not those with money to buy it
- On top of the problems with the name change, many students have used twitter to voice their displeasure towards the occupation of the quad on a whole. Many of them saying that they chose Northeastern and chose to deal with the economic ramifications of that decision, and also brought up the benefits of co-op into the discussion.
- @HuntNewsNU I am the 99% of #Northeastern students who think #OccupyNU is ridiculous. Fight the system by occupying classes.
- Once again, those who are occupying refuted the claims that were being made by the general population
- Funny- all the NU people I see with negative things to say about #occupyNU are business majors. #conditioned #institutionalized #wakeup
