A round-up of news:rewired - connected journalism
Want to know what happened at #newsrw today? Here is a summary of all the sessions.
Charlie Beckett, founder of POLIS, kicked things off with a keynote speech.
- Here, Beckett summarises his key points from the speech:
- Session 1A: Newsroom architecture
With: Helje Solberg, executive editor, VG; Karl Schneider, head of editorial development, Reed Business Information; and James Weeks, executive producer, new media, Sky News.
There was plenty of discussion about the physical arrangement of the newsroom, but also a focus on the internal heirarchy and the need for change as newsrooms become more technical.
Session 1B: Enhancing community engagement
With: Laura Oliver, community coordinator, news, the Guardian; Kate Day, social media and engagement editor, the Telegraph; and Cathy Ma, head of social media, IPC Media.
- Session 2A: Integrated storytelling
In the other session, Xavier Damman, co-founder, Storify; Adam Westbrook, online video journalist and lecturer and blogger; Stephen Abbott, executive producer, culture, the Guardian and Andy Cotgreave, senior product consultant, Tableau Software.

- Tableau t.co/lyk9eE7g is a great tool for storytelling via data journalism, as @acotgreave is demonstrating at #newsrw #2A
