"Every Network Tells a Story" at #amc2011
At the 2011 Allied Media Conference, we developed a wireless networking game and educational workshop based on the idea that the technology should fit our relationships, not the other way around. Then we visited local participants in a network and installed a new wireless router.
- First we reviewed basic network shapes and types of wireless routers, discussing the relationships implied by each one.
- Then we broke into small groups. Each group had an assortment of wireless routers to assemble into a network that told a story.
One group engineered a network for Detroit's eastside near Church of the Messiah, home to one of the Detroit Digital Justice Computer Centers.
- Once we finished sharing the networks and stories we built in the workshop, it was on to the tour to hear the stories and hardware choices from local wireless networks.
