Event Industry Influencers: #Eventtable Chat Summary

A summary of the April 16 #eventtable Twitter chat. The title of the chat was Event Industry Influencers: Who Are They, Really? (Note: This chat was heavily attended and went very fast. Some tweets were lost. Our apologies.)

  1. Name three people who have influenced your view of meetings/events.

  2. 3 who have influenced my life: Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, and all the Righteous Gentiles during WWII. #eventtable
  3. Tahira - influenced by many-various reasons @claireconnects smart @samueljsmith risktaking and a guy named Fred for being real #eventtable
  4. It would indeed be impossible to include everyone. Plus depending on your interest your influencers will change. #eventtable
  5. 1. Al Ries for Marketing 2. Brian Solis - Social Marketing 3. Guy Kawasaki - product evangelism #eventtable
  6. Industry Influencers are @corbinball (as an expert) Roger Helms (someone I want to meet) and Aggarwal (competitor) #eventtable
  7. Other influencers to our industry: ALEC, Stand Your Ground, anti-immigration laws. #eventtable
  8. @Maddow is one of my influencers - I strive to be as articulate, well-read, warm, insightful, as she. #eventtable
  9. Why are those people on your lists?
  10. Could some of you say why those on your lists are on them? #eventtable
  11. @JoanEisenstodt Those people have shaped my view of events. Inspired me to think what I do can better the world. :) xox #eventtable
  12. @JoanEisenstodt Because of their creativity & advancement. They are inspirations! #eventtable
  13. The list that sparked this discussion.
  14. @JeniseFryatt Ironically, this list was obviously influential--it got all of us talking! #eventtable
  15. @sched It was "influential" because of it's lack of prominent women. #eventtable
  16. @JoyLinDMAI @scottlum - influencers can also those who you disagree with i.e the list - catalyst for "new list of influencers" #eventtable
  17. <Chuckling to self thinking the list did get us talking - sort of an industry war on women!> #eventtable
  18. @JoanEisenstodt Made me laugh. Used to work for someone who called it "the war on (not "for") talent". #eventtable
  19. I don't know if that list are all event influencers. Many are event impactors. #eventtable
  20. @JeniseFryatt That's the thing: the list recognizes power+money positions, all of whom are men. Flawed from the get-go #eventtable
  21. Maybe it's just me but I think lists are more about excluding than including...not a fan. - @tracibrowne
