Burger King's Twitter account gets hacked, gains 30K+ new followers

  1. On Monday morning, odd tweets began appearing from @BurgerKing's Twitter account, which had assumed a familiar avatar. 
  2. We just got sold to McDonalds! Look for McDonalds in a hood near you @DFNCTSC
  3. News of the hacked account spread rapidly on Twitter. 
  4. Somebody hacked @BurgerKing making this the first time on the internet anyone has ever mentioned Burger King.
  5. And many mocked it. 
  6. .@BarackObama you’re literally the worst president since hitler even George bush would’ve fixed this @BurgerKing debacle by now
  7. .@burgerking's twitter just got hacked and is currently hilarious.
  8. When Anonymous shows pity for the hacked, that seems significant. 
  9. We're guessing the @BurgerKing social media team is having a bad day...
  10. An hour or so after it began, the account was suspended. 
  11. It's a tough way to gain new followers, but @BurgerKing did - increasing its following by almost a third. 
  12. RT @andyfortson: @benparr @BurgerKing They just got 30k new followers. They're letting it drag out because it's the most successful campaign ever for them.
  13. @BurgerKing's previous tweets were much tamer by comparison.
