- On Monday morning, odd tweets began appearing from @BurgerKing's Twitter account, which had assumed a familiar avatar.
- News of the hacked account spread rapidly on Twitter.
- Somebody hacked @BurgerKing making this the first time on the internet anyone has ever mentioned Burger King.
- And many mocked it.
- .@BarackObama you’re literally the worst president since hitler even George bush would’ve fixed this @BurgerKing debacle by now
- When Anonymous shows pity for the hacked, that seems significant.
- An hour or so after it began, the account was suspended.
- It's a tough way to gain new followers, but @BurgerKing did - increasing its following by almost a third.
- RT @andyfortson: @benparr @BurgerKing They just got 30k new followers. They're letting it drag out because it's the most successful campaign ever for them.
- @BurgerKing's previous tweets were much tamer by comparison.
