Twitter Scavenger Hunt / January 2012
SMU Digital Journalism students commit "acts of journalism" and create a sense of community during a social media scavenger hunt with fellow college students from the U.S., Canada & Egypt.
- A fire alarm during our Friday lab sent the students off on their scavenger hunt a bit earlier than expected. But, but with temperatures unseasonably hovering in the 70s, students didn't seem to mind:
- Yolonda's little-known fact about the SMU Guildhall's national prominence impressed Kimberly, a student at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta:
- Yolonda's scavenger hunt partner, Meghan, snapped this stunning shot of Dallas Hall:
- Meghan's photo drew praise from University of Memphis professor Carrie Brown-Smith, the founder and architect of the now-international Twitter Scavenger Hunt, and sparked a discussion:
- The scavenger hunt took a weekend hiatus, then resumed on a slightly cooler Monday, with temps in the 50s and 60s. Twitter newbie Ben got things back in motion with a prof-on-the-street interview:
- Mark's photo of students recruiting for a service house showed SMU's extracurricular opportunities and drew interest from another Canadian student:
- Our weather was envied by students from universities to the north.
- Sure, SMU's pretty, but what about academic excellence? How about some robot action:
