Scholarly Communications: New Developments in Open Access

  1. The RSP event on Scholarly Communications: New Developments in Open Access took place on Friday June 1st, 2012 at RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects), London. 

    The day started with Martin Hall, Chair of Open Access Implementation Group, Vice Chancellor of the University of Salford and a member of the FINCH committee, who discussed where to go next with open access. 



  2. Alma Swan, Director of European Advocacy at SPARC, presented on the decisions taken at the "Budapest Open Access Initiative at 10" meeting.

  4. After the tea/coffee break, Caren Miloy, Head of Projects JISC Collections, presented the OAPEN-UK project.
  5. Peter Webster, from the School of Advance Study, talked about the SAS Open Journals.
  6. After lunch Simon Hodson, JISC Programme Manager at Managing Research Data, presented on data publication. 
  7. Mark Hahnel, Product Manager at Figshare, showed how his personal experience, when he was a PhD student, lead him to create Figshare.
  8. Graeme Moffat, showcased Frontiers and their journals.

  10. The event close with Melissa Terras,  Reader in Electronic Communications in the Department of Information studies and Co-Director of the Centre for Digital Humanities at UCL, who spoke about her experience in using social media to promote her research.
