Global Conference of Women Media Leaders Kicks Off

Female media leaders from around the world converged in Washington on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 to begin the International Conference of Women Media Leaders, set to determine a plan of action addressing women's status in the news media. Bringing together top women media executives from around the world to discuss gender barriers and implement a plan of action, the International Women's Media Foundation and George Washington University's Global Media Institute greeted distinguished guests for the opening reception of the Internationall Conference of Women Media Leader. Diane Sawyer, anchor of ABC’s World News, joined legendary journalist Marvin Kalb to share her insights on the transformation of journalism, the state of the evening news, and gender barriers in the newsroom.
