Gotham Turns to Night in Afternoon Storms

A cold front slowly sliding to the south conspired with high summer heat to provide New York City with some nasty thunderstorms during the mid-to-late afternoon hours on Wednesday, July 18. Some of those storms also produced dime to penny-size hail.
