Recap report: Brick by brick - Freedom 25 years after the fall?

In 1989, the border separating eastern and western Europe opened as communism collapsed. Index hosted a Question Time-style discussion about Europe after the Berlin Wall to kick off the summer issue of the magazine, which explores how the continent has changed and freedom today.

  2. During the event the online version of the magazine, including past issues, was free to access with the magic of geo-coding 
  3. The panel, chaired by the editor of Index on Censorship magazine Rachael Jolley, brought together Timothy Garton Ash (@fromTGA), historian and author of The Magic Lantern and The File, Kate Maltby (@KateMaltby), editor of Bright Blue Magazine and journalist, Sebastian Borger (@sebastianborger), German author and journalist, Martin Roth, director of the V&A and former director of Dresden State Art Collections, David Edgar (@DavidBEdgar) a playwright, and Tomasz Kitlinski, a Polish philosopher and LGBT activist.
