  1. @tomwhitby Education has historically been solitary. Let's collaborate in our classrooms! #edchat
  2. Teach students to trust their own thinking, to test ideas and grow; not just wait for the teacher's OK #edchat
  3. RT @kathycook1: We need to model creativity and innovation by thinking differently and encouraging others to do the same. #edchat
  4. @drdouggreen Agreed. But that begs the question: how necessary is assessment? Do we do away with it entirely? #edchat
  5. How do you get teachers to let go of control and allow student centered learning tinyurl.com/454czsq? #edchat
  6. #edchat What if we only taught children how to help others, not themselves? If learning & motivation were morally framed, not economically?
  7. Make learning more public!! RT @drdouggreen: @TestSoup If kids publish their best work everyone will see how well they are doing. #edchat
  8. I feel for people who's curriculum is perceived as so rigid that they feel they must 'teach to the test' #edchat
  9. Teach kids to do the right thing BECAUSE IT'S THE RIGHT THING, not because they get an A or a badge or a new pair of Nikes. #edchat
  10. RT @tomwhitby: I am of the growing opinion that we need to reform educators before we can reform education. #Edchat - TRANSFORM :-)
  11. RT @isteconnects: How many employers use stand tests? not many. They evaluate through goals, reflections, review progress, discuss with employee. #edchat
  12. @isteconnects So true! How do we help policy makers to understand that & teach reflection, goal setting & discussion-based learning? #edchat
  13. We shouldn't expect all kids to be great generalists. We should let them find their niche and thrive! #edchat
  14. assessing has a place!motivation!sorting!focusing.we can't really discard it easily.many stdns actually die if they are not tested #edchat
  15. RT @drdouggreen: @GaryBrannigan Outside of school the only tests I take are eye tests and driving tests. #EdChat
  16. The problem might not be what we are doing, but why we are doing it. #edchat
  17. @inquirebook "We might start by getting education leaders to understand that teaching is about students. " Amen! #edchat
  18. Yes! RT @jheil65: @TestSoup Agreed. . .focus on "how are you smart," not "how smart are you!" #edchat
  19. RT @rliberni: @inquirebook I find when kids are given a free hand to explore they come up with amazing things - esp online #edchat
  20. @cybraryman1 If kids publish their best work periodically we can use that for assessment. #edchat
  21. @drdouggreen @cybraryman1 True, we just need to stop being married to one form of assessment to make judgments about kids #edchat
