What's Twitter listening to?
A lot of Twitter is studying for exams. I asked it what it likes to listen to. It responded, and now there’s a playlist.

Tweet me your tunes - @harry_slater
- 9 May 2012: Thanks for all of your tweets and tunes. Keep them coming - tweet me. Guardian Students got in touch and asked me to write a blog post about revision and music and how it affects concentration. That should be up on their site sometime soon. With it, they'll be a (hopefully useful) musical freebie. Follow them on Twitter for updates - @gdnstudents
- Jamie Cullum works a treat for Charlotte. He's live from the 100 Club tonight. You can listen and watch via BBC Radio 2. Tom Jones and Jessie J are also making an appearance.
- @harry_slater ben howard or some jazzy stuff like jamie cullum usually do it for me (revision-wise)
- Matt (and loads more of you) like instrumental stuff ...
- @harry_slater anything without vocals, otherwise I find it hard to concentrate on work.
- ... Jennifer and Chris have some suggestions:
- @harry_slater On a similar note (pardon the pun!) to @TheThumbCompas Yann Tiersen whose music is either instrumental or in French!
- @gdnstudents @harry_slater Classical music: rather relaxed, no lyrics to distract you from the words you're reading.
- Soundtracks are also popular. Radio 4 usually works for me too:
- @harry_slater Not an artist as such, but the soundtrack from Drive is such good working music. Or a slice of Radio 4 #womanshour
- A lot of people prefer silence over music, although classical is popular too:
- @harry_slater usually nothing, but if I'm feeling really distracted classical helps me to focus. Bach's cello suites, mostly.
- Two great sites from Anna for filler and background noise. The rain one is pretty convincing:
- @gdnstudents @harry_slater white noise is quite good, from simplynoise.com or rainymood.com is surprisingly comforting!
- Adam's continuing the classical vibe (plus video):
- @harry_slater More to my tweet earlier, the song from the opening credits of Raging Bull has proved effective when wanting some study music.
- The less said about this, the better:
- @harry_slater Revising in silence if I actually need to work, other times I keep spirits up with something embarrassing like McFly.
- A sound suggestion from Charlie:
- @harry_slater Revision music: Rebecca Black, Friday. Encouraging as you know no matter how bad your exam is, you'll always b better than her
- These two tracks from Burial (Ghost Hardware and Endorphin) are the nuts, in my opinion:
