1. @daringfireball nice first-world observation, but I’ve yet to find a large (medical) congress venue with anything else but VGA cables…
  2. I get @gruber’s point (daringfireball.net/linked/2012/06…), but in many places (like most K-12 classrooms), if there’s a projector at all, it’s VGA-only.
  3. So @gruber is shitty about VGA ports - given that it's pretty much universal, what's the big deal?
  4. @gruber RE: Skating to where the Puck Was – You seem to neglect that they all sport HDMI outputs. Also: VGA connectors are still very common
  5. I actually wish my MacBook did have a VGA port. The dongle is a pain in the IO port. daringfireball.net/linked/2012/06… /via @gruber
  6. @micflan he is indeed. I agree with most of what @gruber says but not in this case. Projectors still rock VGA (sadly)
  7. @daringfireball @gruber Sadly this likely to satisfy enterprise level contracts which require VGA. But VGA is officially dead in 3 years.
  8. @gruber most office environments only have VGA cables at the ready for projection. Most (actually, ALL) Mac users need an adapter.
  9. @gruber So Yeah, weird to see VGA - but for those who regularly project it's more convenient than bringing a laptop AND adapter.
  10. @gruber New VGA laptops should tell you, more than anything, that technophobe PowerPoint jockeys still exist in frightening numbers.
  11. @gruber Most corporate conference rooms still sport projectors with only VGA cables, even though the projectors have DVI or better ports.
  12. @gruber people with jobs or people in school really like the VGA ports. Embarrassing showing up to a meeting without your dongle.
  13. @gruber is mocking new PC laptops for including VGA ports? Eliminates the dongle problem w/Mac laptops. Old tech, but a reasonable decision.
  14. @gruber I carry a mini-displayport to via adapter in my bag. I know the projector will have a VGA port & cable, wherever I go.
  15. @gruber VGA ports are (unfortunately?) very useful if you use projectors often
  16. @gruber PC Laptops still have VGA ports because businesses still have projectors with VGA cables.
  17. @gruber i did recently have to run to an Apple store to pick up the ipad VGA adapter because conf projector had no digital in.
