Mayor of Kingston Twitter Account - Personal or Official?
Kingstonians weigh in on the @MayorOfKingston account, and whether it is perceived to be personal or official, based on a Twitter poll by @Chrystal_Wilson. [Final edit: 2030, 1 Feb 2013]
Whig article on @mayorofkingston and his personal connection to the Ont Liberal Party. Does this really matter? My answer is yes and no.
@twittorr @MayorOfKingston matters when he uses his Mayoral Twitter account for Liberal events, and doesn't do that for all parties.
@Chrystal_Wilson @twittorr ... I don't have a Mayoral Twitter account. This is my own twitter account, it doesn't belong to City.- @MayorOfKingston then perhaps you should change the name to 'MarkG'. Otherwise it looks very Mayoral
- @MayorOfKingston For follow up I ran a poll 100% agree this appears to be an official Mayor account, including a 12 & 14 year old.

@Chrystal_Wilson yeah, definitely seems like an official account. If it's personal, his handle should be his name, not his job title. #ygk
@Chrystal_Wilson 1/2 I would suggest 1st of all that the title of mayors is one that is always attached to the person no matter if they are- @Chrystal_Wilson 2/2 on the job or not. I would suggest that putting the title mayor in the handle would be as 1 tweeting from the position.

@Chrystal_Wilson, @MayorOfKingston emphatically, a city account! I've actually made this point a few times before.- @rj_longfield @Chrystal_Wilson I can't tell you how many times I've cringed at things coming from what seems to be an official city account.
