The life and times of Mike the Bear
Mike, aka M13, was the last wild bear in Switzerland — and he lived up to the title. During his brief time in the country, he broke into a home, was hit by a train, and started a fire.
- "The bear disappeared from our region for a hundred years, and now it's back," said the Swiss man who first spotted M13. In this 2012 report, Swiss Info called him the "newest wildlife celebrity":
- But M13, known by online admirers as "Mike," this week met the same fate that befell some of his wild predecessors.
