Edinburgh trams meeting tweets, 16 May 2011
We tweeted from today's council meeting on trams, then asked our followers: "What do locals want? A working tramline, no matter how short, or no trams at all?"
- Hi folks. I'm at city chambers to report on Edinburgh tram meeting. #edinburghcouncil
- @GdnEdinburgh Oh you are joking? They're not all there, oh dear. Look forward to reading how it goes.
- @GdnEdinburgh good I think the word we are looking for is SHAMBLES. Edinburgh looks like WW1 battlefields.
- 60 seconds into Edinburgh tram meeting and it's been adjourned for 30mins. #edinburghcouncil
- @AuldSledger Reason is the parties are considering an addendum by the SNP asking for cost of cancelling project.
- RT @family_davidi: RT @gdnedinburgh: 60 seconds into Edinburgh tram meeting and it's been adjourned for 30mins. #edinburghcouncil » says it all really
- RT @GdnEdinburgh: 60 seconds into Edinburgh tram meeting and it's been adjourned for 30mins. #edinburghcouncil >>says it all!!
- @GdnEdinburgh @CyclingEdin Better to restore busway where removed & lift rails Get OK for buses (200+ pax/25m/4dr) & run BRT at 10% of cost
- @GdnEdinburgh Did the council look at the cost of other future transport solutions? The trams might be a fuck up but we do need something
- OK, the councillors are back. SNP asked for costs of cancelling trams. Now Labour are about to put forward a motion. #edinburghcouncil
- What it comes down to is whether the Lib Dems side with their council colleagues on the SNP. #edinburghcouncil
- Well that was over quickly. Councillors agree to ask for report into cost of scrapping Edinbugh trams. #edinburghcouncil
- @GdnEdinburgh Over 400million of our money has been spent already! Surely they must complete phase1. #Edinburghtrams #snpfail again!
- Now getting reaction - Labour say they want Scottish Govt to provide more cash for Edinburgh trams. #edinburghcouncil
- @GdnEdinburgh They've spent so much already, it would be incredibly stupid to *pay* to cancel it, just use that money to finish it! :D
- @GdnEdinburgh Is this a serious consideration or political manoeuvrings before the 2012 LA elections? Surely the project must finish
- @gdnedinburgh additional note, once they're up and running everyone will stop whinging. That happened in Dublin with their Luas line :)
