  3. "Keep your laptops closed as often as possible (in class, of course)." - Paolo Mottola

Don't fart around on Facebook or Netflix during class. Actually listen to the instructor and your classmates. Seriously, you'll learn 1,000 times more stuff and feel like your $$ was VERY well spent. I even had a few classes where laptops weren't allowed. Not surprisingly, they were the best classes I had. - Derek Belt

Partake in class discussion. You'll likely not get anymore chances to discuss these topics at academic levels again. - Brian Johnson

  4. "Be open-minded, and don't hesitate to ask questions!" - Coco Tsai

  5. Don't be "afraid" of the all-day Saturday classes....they allow focus that has big returns. - Jeff Hora

I'd double-like Jeff's comment about Saturday classes. They were the best class experience I had. Monday night classes on the other hand... - Brook Ellingwood

The Saturday classes are interesting and special, so I echo Jeff Hora and Brook Ellingwood. Take them. - Suna Gurol

  6. Check equipment out of the equipment library - I miss playing with $1,000 cameras! - Helen Pitlick

Take advantage of all of the free software you can receive as a UW student. You can get software for Mac and PC. Free Microsoft Office, Windows 7, and many other programs. You can also get huge discounts on Adobe products. - Evan West

  7. Challenge the teachers. This whole program is about finding new solutions to old problems. Think of the MCDM as a laboratory to experiment and improve existing ideas. - Shane Suzuki

Not only is the MCDM what you make it, you're also making the MCDM. This is not a take it or leave it kind of program, so take the initiative to start something new, or lobby to get a different type of class added to the curriculum. Your passion counts. - Peter Luyckx

  8. Hanson, Anita and Scott often have extra tickets and seats to events that they are invited to and offer them to MCDM students -- take advantage of these - they are a great way to be network. Besides you get to hang out with some of your favorite people! :) - Suna Gurol

Take advantage of any invites and discounts to events, workshops, conferences, etc. - Amy Rainey

  9. "Take the business class!" - Jon Hickey

I agree. If you've never taken a business class, take it!" - Rachael Dill Boyer

Brian's right--definitely get an evening parking pass. - Madeline Moy

  11. "Cut every unnecessary thing out of your life so you can spend the time you need to spend on this program to get the most out of it. - Rachael Dill Boyer

  12. Create a blog and post your class papers to it so the world can see how brilliant you are. - Brook Ellingwood

Contribute to Flip the Media and practice thinking of yourself as a thought leader. Which you will be when you're done.- Peter Luyckx
