Transmedia Pt. 1 - Storify your audience
Transmedia is the buzzword of the moment in independent and social action-driven filmmaking. How can cross-platform storytelling help your project? What is transmedia? To explore the issue, I'll use some of the most exciting cross-platform tools to see if they help explain the opportunities - and perhaps the limitations.
- As transmedia storytelling becomes more popular, I think an issue that needs addressing is audience alienation. If a book series decides to continue the story in video games, what of those fans who have never picked up a controller? If a film series continues in television, what of those fans who either don't watch TV, or whose languages don't have an official dubbing or subtitling of the program?
