Graphic Videos On Social Media

I asked people whether they thought my decision not to tweet a graphic video from #Syria of a boy with the lower part of his face blown off was the right one, here are their answers

  1. @fieldproducer I've just tweeted video. Journalistic standards = defunct concept, if everyones ability to view and distribute is gone
  2. @fieldproducer Its ur choice but if I think its NECESSARY 2 show the graphic footage so people #WakeUP & #HELP #SYRIA
  3. @fieldproducer Americans have been shielded from the horrors of War for years. It has desensitized two generations. #disturbing #graphic
  4. @fieldproducer Seen footage & cyu wer reticent V disturbing. Q is does it aid debate or push people 2 extreme bt understandable reactions?
  5. @fieldproducer I think people should have their eyes held open and be made to watch that stuff before the are allowed to vote.
  6. @fieldproducer @woodo79 Its fucked up enough picturing it in my head, don't need to see it
  7. @fieldproducer I think wars would be less frequent if media used all the disturbing and gory footage they get. Why shield us from reality?
  8. @fieldproducer Agree. People can find it easily enough if they want to. It is disturbing in the extreme.
  9. @fieldproducer people can stomach varies. I don't have to watch the videos to know what's going on.
  10. @fieldproducer I think pple have a right to know but not to see;the boy in question is in no state to give permission to be gawped at
  11. @fieldproducer Good to no link. Give the poor child some dignity by not allowing them to become circus-interest to the goulish.
  12. @fieldproducer very responsible, not an image I would like to see. Just knowing it has happened is disturbing enough #syria
  13. RT @58_velma: @fieldproducer I agree. It is one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. If people are determined to see it, they will find it.
  14. @fieldproducer I think you're right not to post it. Knowing it exists should be enough, it shouldn't take a video for people to stand up.
  15. @74Promotions @fieldproducer but link gives people the choice to see - and should we all bury our heads in the sand?
  16. @fieldproducer I think that's correct, although it's graphic nature brings home the horror, it's not something everyone *need* see....
  17. @fieldproducer I think if it's something you wouldn't have broadcast on Sky News then it's right not to link it.
  18. @fieldproducer I think you should tweet it with a warning. I see no reason not to. People can choose not to look.
  19. @fieldproducer less is more. Just tweet a brief description, we'll fill in the rest.
  20. @fieldproducer out of respect for the Child & child's family I would not consider showing it!
  21. @fieldproducer intuitive position is tweet and let people make their own decision. And take responsibility for it.
  22. @fieldproducer I think this country is still 2 shielded with its news, if warnings are given b4 such graphic nature, then people can choose.
  23. Wise, your description is enough to realise the horror RT @fieldproducer: I've taken decision not to tweet a link to the video...
  24. @fieldproducer It is very disturbing but people need to be shocked into action
