#acwri Twitter Chat: Getting Stuck and Getting Un-stuck

This Twitter chat was dedicated to strategies for getting past writing obstacles (hosted by @DrJeremySegrott).

  1. We found lots of great approaches to dealing with those times when we run out of words: using prompts or scaffolding phrases (such as 'in other words') to get ourselves going again; getting away from our desks and doing something physical, especially out of doors; refusing to be a perfectionist about early drafts; remembering that early drafts are a way of figuring things out; trying to write our way out of difficulties by writing about the difficulties; switching mediums (for instance, using pen and paper); putting some distance between us and our ideas with mindmaps or reverse outlines; and developing confidence as editor, which makes first drafts less scary.
