  1. As Jared sent out yesterday, a HUGE report was released detailing the policies of the Burmese government which have restricted Rohingya "movement, marriage, childbirth, home repairs and construction of houses of worship"

    Key highlights:

    Restricted movement:
    - traveling between townships
    -leaving Rakhine state without permission

    Marriage and Childbirth:
    -only permitted two children
    -have to apply for permission to marry

    3,000 Palaung Villagers have been displaced over the past year due to attacks on Shan State. The Ta’ang Women’s Organization (TWO) launched a report called “An Unseen Crisis” asking Burmese army to cease its attacks. 

    David Shear, the appointee to become the top US defense official for Asia, said that the transition to democracy in Burma “will likely falter,” and engagement with the Burmese military is essential to ensure democratic reform.
